Public Speaking Program

Franklin students engage in a four-year communication development program delivered by GK Training. Students focus on speaking, presenting, and all forms of oral communication through this program, which uses embodied cognition to help create behavioral change and improve communication in any setting. GK Training’s clients include Presidential candidates, top global financial firms, major professional sports leagues, and more industry leaders.

Through the four-year series of large-group, small group, and one-on-one coaching sessions, students transition through the four stages of awareness in their oral communication:

  1. Unconsciously Unaware: When students start their journey, they are unconscious of the skills that they need to develop to be a strong public speaker and unaware of what they need to do in order to remediate these skills.
  2. Consciously Unaware: As time progresses, students become conscious of the public skills that they need to develop, but they are not yet aware of how to work on improving those skills.
  3. Consciously Aware: As time continues to progress, students become increasingly aware of what they need to do to improve their public speaking skills.
  4. Unconsciously Aware: By the end of the program, students develop an intuition for oral communication that allows for eloquent execution without a high level of thought behind the process.

It has been incredible to witness our students’ public speaking journey through class presentations, student ambassador opportunities, and more, and we look forward to seeing how they grow as their training continues.
